GOD’S COUNTRY
The face of “GOD’S COUNTRY”
The GOD’S COUNTRY series by House Of Portway’s Lead Designer, Nabighah, explores the current political climate of Britain. The term God’s Country is defined as an area that is favoured by God. To Nabighah, God’s Country has a different meaning “I envision a new Britain that is built on the qualities that God has; all loving, all forgiving, all powerful. These characteristics - in my opinion - can create a utopia, a place that can really feel like God’s Country.”
Empire. Since the dawn of civilisation, people have been driven to conquer. This drove society forward to creating kingdoms and empires, which then gave birth to inventions that then slingshotted society to what it is today. This country gave birth to the biggest empire of all time, an empire where the sun never set. The British Empire controlled the richest places on Earth, and for a while people from the ends of the world were brought together by the fact that they had something in common, they were a part of the Empire. Slowly, being “British” was indirectly expanded to not only refer to the island of Britainnia, but also her subjects in the Caribbean, Africa and India.
In recent times, people have forgotten what brought this country together. The developing “GOD’S COUNTRY” series sets on reminding people.
