Our Community Foundation (OCF) are a an award-winning, youth-led charity focused on amplifying the voices of young people, driving real change and creating long-term impact within local communities. Since 2006, OCF has supported over 10,500 young people through its programmes, evolving into a registered charity in 2020. Their mission is rooted in development; nurturing talent, creating opportunity and positioning young people as equal partners in shaping their own futures.
What we were conscious of from the beginning was not overcomplicating the approach. Events like this don’t need to be overproduced to feel meaningful. The value already exists in the people, the interactions and the atmosphere. Our focus was on capturing that as it naturally unfolded. Rather than directing, we observed. Allowing moments to form on their own terms; children immersed in activity, families connecting, conversations happening in the background. The kind of details that don’t ask for attention but ultimately define the experience.
Visually, we kept things controlled but flexible. Working with available light where possible, reacting to movement, and framing moments in a way that felt intentional without feeling forced. The aim wasn’t perfection, it was honesty. What stood out was the consistency of energy throughout the day. This project wasn’t about creating something. It was about recognising what was already there and documenting it properly.
