SIREN
Alternate cover for “siren“
Sirens in popular culture are female creatures that lure men at sea with enchanting songs. In a religious context, they are a symbol for temptation. “Siren” by killkojo follows these ideas of temptation, lust, and mystery.
We set out to create an album cover that suited these concepts. Bedrooms and showers are very intimate places. They sit at the intersection of vulnerability and desire. Spaces where people are most unguarded, both physically and emotionally. By hitching the visuals in these environments, we aimed to translate the mythology of a siren into something intimate, rather than distant or fantastical.
The creative direction leans into subtle tension rather than overt storytelling. Reflections, condensation, and fragmented views obscure as much as they reveal, echoing the elusive nature of temptation. There’s a push and pull between clarity and distortion; a visual metaphor for the internal conflict that sits at the heart of the project.
Colour and lighting play a critical role. We let the greens play with the shadows to create a sense of depth and allure, drawing the viewer in without giving everything away. The model’s face is never fully presented; instead, she exists in glimpses, reinforcing the idea that what attracts us is often what remains just out of reach.
This project was less about depicting a literal siren and more about capturing the feeling they represent. It was an exploration of desire, rather than something you can fully see or understand.
The creative team behind this project included Nabighah, who led overall direction and photography, assisted by Max P. Shaun Rattu led video production and post-production alongside Ihsan U. We also extend our gratitude to our brilliant model Sienna Verdi-White. Kyreece and Arjun were our production assistants.
